Bringing Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled Back to Life: A Plan for the Future!

How to SAVE Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled

In a recent discussion video, I explored the potential for reviving the popular kart racing game Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. This topic has been a frequent point of conversation between me and fellow YouTuber and former ISGP co-host Nintendogen64, particularly during our real life discussions on the Spyro and Crash series.

I noticed that Microsoft’s portfolio lacks kart racers, instead being more closely associated with traditional racing games like Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon. This led me to think about how Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, despite its initial popularity, has become somewhat forgotten, similar to the rapid decline in attention for Crash Team Rumble (due to updates being discontinued sadly).

Although Nitro-Fueled featured seven Grand Prix events that were well-received, the game lost momentum once these updates ceased. Developers shifted their focus to other projects, including Call of Duty, Diablo, and Destiny. To rekindle interest in Nitro-Fueled, I proposed a strategy involving a combination of free and paid content updates, drawing inspiration from the continued success of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Check out the video below:

Free Updates

60 FPS Patch:

Addressing a long-standing request, this patch would enable 60 frames per second gameplay on PS5 and Xbox Series X, building on the game’s existing 4K support.

CNK Story and Campaign:

Incorporating the story and campaign from Crash Nitro Kart (CNK), with updated cutscenes and home worlds to match Nitro-Fueled’s style. This addition would aim to draw back players.

Paid Updates

PC Version:

Launching the game on PC would facilitate modding and broader accessibility. All characters and content could be unlocked or made significantly cheaper through in-game currency, with optional microtransactions for additional revenue.

New Characters and Tracks

I proposed releasing six waves of content over 18 months, similar to Mario Kart 8’s model. Each wave could feature new characters and tracks from the Crash and Spyro universes. The suggested characters include:

Spyro Characters:

  • Ripto
  • Sorceress
  • Hunter
  • Bianca
  • The Professor
  • Dragon Elder
  • Sheila
  • Sgt. Byrd
  • Bentley
  • Agent 9
  • Crush
  • Gulp

Crash Bandicoot Characters:

  • Viscount from Crash Boom Bang
  • The Evil Twins, Madame Amberly from Crash Twinsanity
  • Willy Wumpa Cheeks from Crash Tag Team Racing
  • The Bearminator from Crash Bash
  • Mr. Crumb from Crash Bandicoot 99X

Additionally, 6-12 Skylanders characters could be included, acknowledging the dedicated fanbase of that series.

New Levels

My suggestions for new levels include:

  1. Spyro-Themed Levels: Tracks based on locations like Artisans, Peace Keepers, Beast Makers, Summer Forest, Icy Peak and others (watch the video for more).
  2. Crash Tag Team Racing: Reworked tracks from CTTR.
  3. Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D & Nitro Kart 3D 2: The popular mobile games!
  4. Original Tracks: Six new tracks created from scratch.

The updates would also feature numerous skins from Crash Team Rumble and new vehicles, although I emphasised that the primary focus should be on new tracks.

I concluded that reviving Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled with these updates could satisfy existing fans and attract new players, providing Microsoft and Xbox with a prominent kart racing game. Please check out the video and comment on it what you think and what you’d do if you could revive CTR Nitro-Fueled!
