Crash Twinsanity Remake in Development by Fans

Mar 16, 2024 | Gaming News

As a big follower of Crash Bandicoot & Spyro fangames, I’ve surprised myself that I have missed a huge project brewing. For the past year, a cool project that’s sure to reignite nostalgia and excitement among Crash Bandicoot fans worldwide has been in development, and it’s titled “Crash Twinsanity Infinity”.

Led by a passionate, small team of skilled creators, Crash Twinsanity Infinity is a fan-made remake of Crash Twinsanity, one of the more divisive games in the series. These dedicated Crash fans have poured their hearts into resurrecting the magic of the original game, infusing it with fresh mechanics and updated visuals that are sure to blow your mind.

Just recently, progress video of Crash Twinsanity Infinity was dropped, showcasing the incredible strides the team has made in a year or so. From revamped sound effects to accurate models and textures, every detail has been thought about. Check out the video below to see the game in action! I’ve also made a TikTok video about it as well.

Of course, no project of this magnitude comes without its challenges. The small team has faced hurdles like programming collisions and staying true to the essence of the original game. A demo will be released soon so people can experience this themselves. In a move that probably won’t shock hardcore Twinsanity fans, the developers have decided to include cut content from the original game. Cut levels like “Bug Run” will be playable (including in the upcoming demo), giving fans a chance to experience content that was never previously available. Another older video from a developer shows off a work in progress for “Gone A Bit Coco”…

Crash Twinsanity Infinity has no release date yet, which makes sense as the developers want to make sure it’s a great experience for the fans. LukeCreater, one of the developers, left this comment on a video:

Wow, thank you so much for reacting to my video and supporting this project and all of us on the team! Something I wanted to mention is that this is still a beta in development. We’ve already improved the animations, and soon we’ll try to extract those from the original game to make it as close as possible to what Twinsanity truly is. This remake aims to reintroduce deleted content, but for now, the focus is on programming the mechanics. It’s still in beta, but we’ll improve everything we can. Thank you for the video! It was really great, I loved it!

Make sure to support the developers on this as they continue to work on this fantastic fan-made remake/remaster of Crash Twinsanity!

About Crash Twinsanity:

Crash Twinsanity is a platform-adventure video game developed by Traveller’s Tales and released in 2004 as part of the Crash Bandicoot series. It introduces new gameplay mechanics, including tag team moves between Crash and his nemesis, Dr. Neo Cortex.

The game features seamless transitions between gameplay styles and takes players on a journey through various dimensions. It avoided using the “warp room” concept that was part of the previous three games. Crash Twinsanity’s soundtrack was produced by Spiralmouth, which created such a different feeling of music compared to every Crash Bandicoot game prior.

With vibrant environments, memorable characters, and challenging gameplay, Crash Twinsanity is popular, albeit divisive game in the series.
